Getting Started

Over on the CRM forums and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM group on LinkedIn, I see posts all the time from people who are new to Dynamics CRM and trying to get started. So I thought I’d keep a list of useful resources for new users, system administrators, IT professionals and developers…

    Hi Neil,

How do we go about adding our Dedupe4Dynamics – deduplication technology for MS CRM to your Customery.co.uk site?

    Many thanks in advance

Hi Martin, thanks for your note. The solutions that I’ve listed are all add-ons that I have evaluated on behalf of my Dynamics CRM customers, or where I’ve met the vendor and seen a demo at one of the Microsoft conferences, or where I’ve had a strong recommendation from a trusted CRM associate. I’d love to list DG Global’s solution as soon as it meets one of those criteria. Data quality is a topic very close to my heart, so perhaps we could set up some time for a web demo?

      Regards, Neil

Is there a tool or function to have LinkedIn contacts fed into CRM?

    • 17 March 2011 12:24

Hi Greg, good question. The answer is: sort of. My friend and fellow CRM MVP, Marco Amedo, has published a blog article describing how LinkedIn can be integrated with Dynamics CRM accounts and contacts. http://marcoamoedo.com/blog/adding-linkedin-to-dynamics-crm/

However, it’s a pretty superficial integration. It doesn’t, for example, create contacts or update contact information in CRM based on LinkedIn data. This might be a limitation of the public API that LinkedIn makes available to developers, or it could be that Marco has just demonstrated a simple LinkedIn widget example.

My Palm Pre phone syncs and merges each of my Gmail, Exchange, Facebook and phone contacts with my LinkedIn contacts; if one of my LinkedIn contacts updates their phone number or email address my phone’s contacts database gets updated — so it must be possible, if LinkedIn will provide you with the API, to do the same with Dynamics CRM. Here’s their developer page: http://developer.linkedin.com/community/apis
